Today the SRC ETQW Server came online, it has all the maps and is running the campaign map cycle. Game on and cya on the server!


Team Fortress 2 Server Online by SteelRat 2007-10-19

Team Fortress 2 - it's here!! I can't say I have been waiting for this game, since I only found out about it's existance the other day - but I can tell you this: Some games I have been waiting years for and they disapointed me big time.

Team Fortress 2 is exactly the game I have been waiting for, a fast paced and fun game to play with your mates online drinking a couple of beers. I am working with getting the STEAM crap to start working properly so that I can host a dedicated TF2 server - the IP is already posted as I expect to solve this little problem within the next couple of days. I really hope you all get a copy of this game and show up on the server :)

SRCGAMING has moved!by SteelRat 2007-04-06

Today the SRC got reconnected to the internet at the new ISP. This means that the server also has a new IP address (78.108.50.224) - please update any bookmarks you may have!

The good news is that I have a new P4 machine that will host my other game server as soon as ETQW is out - yes there will be an SRC ETQW server :) I hope that you all have pre-ordered you copies and are eager to play GDF and Strogg!

I am sorry to annouce that there will be no STALKER server hosted by SRCGAMING. The reason is simple, the multiplayer version simply did not live up to our expectation (although the SP version rocks!)

SRCGAMING Moves by SteelRat 2007-04-06

OK, STALKER is here - MAN this game rocks, especially the single player! The multiplayer is cool too, but it is soo much like all other FPS MP's out there without any objectives and just deathmatches or artifact hunt. The game is beautiful though, totally amazing!

Now, In the beginning of May SRCGAMING with all it's stuff will move. I will add new hardware and get an even better internet connection for the servers.

My plan is to host a MP server for STALKER and likely keep the ET server running (on new hardware) and when ETQW arrives I will host a server for that as well.

Make sure you visit us on IRC ( #srcgaming @ Quakenet ) for the latest info on the move.

It was a while since I posted any updates so here it goes:

First, I am eagerly awaiting S.T.A.L.K.E.R to show up here on the 23rd of March (Swedish release date) to try it out, it feels that I waited longer for this one than for Doom3 - I just hope it won't be as disapointing.

Part from that, I am working on an ET map but I am not sure I will ever finish it now that ETQW is approaching (I still think it is about 6 months out or so but I don't know). I am still convinced that ETQW will be one of the coolest online games with any structure the world has ever seen, I believe ET was just a teaser...

Music - in 2006 I decided to direct my attention to music again, it has been a life long passion and interest and I am just about to release (March 19 2007) my first CD album ever under the artist name Voide. If you like electronic music like Mike Oldfield, Kraftwerk, Spliff, Propaganda, Yello and the types then I suggest you visit MySpace or the Voide web page.

Oh...and this webby truly needs a redesign. I'll see what I can do about that, upgrading the server and prepare for proper game hosting servers for SRC and the games we play.

Snatch3 by SteelRat 2006-09-30

Snatch3 released, from the readme:

01. Fixed (total rewrite) the forest house spawn that was active at the beginning of map that was being exploited by some players.
02. Added Axis second spawn by Axis command post and storage (new area)
03. Spawnpoints for both teams are autochanged when truck passes thru base gate. Axis spawn by CP and storage, Allies at initial spawn (old spawnpoints still available though).
04. Removed annoying brush near Forest House in the bush.
05. The truck is now moving 25 units faster than previously, was 125 and is now 150.
06. Minor texture fixes and addition of a few small items.

Using the setspawnpt command for manual/scripted selection of spawnpoints:
Allies
0 = Forest House
1 = Initial Spawn (Allied House)

Axis
1 = Initial Spawn (Base Spawn)
4 = Storage/Command post


Stuff by SteelRat 2006-08-29

Ok, so what is happening. Not much I would say unfortunately. I am waiting for ETQW and it seems I have some waiting left to do... Anyhow, I saw the video from Quakcon 2006 where SplashDamage and id demonstrated portions of the game as well as gave an excellent overview of the enviroment. I REALLY like that they have put so much effort into the teamplay and networking aspect of the game. Initially I doubted the Strogg but I have changed my mind, it was getting a bit boring killing germans after 4 years anyhow...

I am also waiting for news on my new internet connection, hopefully something will happen before ETQW is released. And I promise you - I WILL HOST A ETQW Server.

Part from that there are really no fun games around so I mostly spend time working. I have even pre-ordered The Settlers II 10:th anniversary edition to kill some time, I really like that game :)


And what is all this sh*t about all FPS games are now being developed on consoles (XBOX and PS) and some not even released on PC??? Have these guys EVER tried to play a FPS game with a joystick!!??! I am really sad I won't get to play COD3.

Insane, I say don't buy any stinking consoles.


X-Dam 2 by SteelRat 2006-05-24

I decided to fix the bugs on X-Dam Complex for ET, the map deserved the new tweaked light (player models are now properly lit) as script and bug fixes. The map is currently in the map rotation @ SRC as well. It is also available in the download section.

I got an X-lab in the basement where I cook my own brew..


Snatch2 by SteelRat 2006-05-22

Ok, due to some stupid mistakes on my behalf I had to release snatch2. Things that have been fixed are:

01. Removed 2:nd spawn for Axis and fixed spawning.
02. Updated command post script for Allies
03. Allies can now choose spawn point once comm post is built, default is the command post until truck has passed the main gate. If the truck has passed the main gate, Axis destroyed the Allied command post and Allies rebuild it they will spawn at their initial spawn but have the option to use the command post spawn.
04. Fixed the flying stairs ;)
05. Updated tcMod for the terrain
06. Made the previously Axis only door near Axis command post available to both teams.


Sorry about this, I'll stick to knitting from now on..

FritzBot support for V2 Base TE by SteelRat 2006-04-09

Today I have released FritzBot support for my map V2 Base TE with the excellent help from crapshoot. Please download and test it (this is still a beta) and provide feedback on potential issues or ideas for improvements. Is SteelRat's Cage dead? by SteelRat 2006-03-27

NO! Unfortunately Enemy Territory is slowly decaying due to some badly timed patches (like fixing the download bug after 2 years..) as well as lack of marketing for new players. Anyhow, I'll keep the ET server running for still some time to come.

As for what is ahead I can tell you that I am waiting for Enemy Territory QuakeWars with great anticipation! The screenshots looks great and the fact that SD have kept the class based gameplay is very promising news indeed, this is what made ET so very special compared to all other average 3D shooters - the fact that you depend on you teammates! I just wished they did the same with Call of Duty 2 that have consumed some of my time. Without the classes you can basically play any single player mission instead in my opinion, like a one man crusade killing all (hmm..reminds me of Duke Nukem...)

So what's the good news?
Well, if all goes well I will get a very nice dedicated internet connetion (100Mbit) sometime this summer and that will enable me to host some game servers :) So what we are waiting for is another game or two to be released, my waiting list is currently:
1. RtCW II
2. ETQW
3. S.T.A.L.K.E.R (if it will ever be released).

I hope to see you all on a server, ready and with weapons loaded :-)

New map Base 47 Released by SteelRat 2005-06-06

Base 47 is an Axis base with a radar tower and war documents, Allies are attacking and have to destroy the radar tower, steal the documents and transmit them at the radio in the base. Due to it's size it is never far to anything, I think this map will work perfectly 6vs6 but can also be played 3vs3 if you disable the mines. Map time is 15 minutes default and Allies have a 5 second shorter respawn.
